Proper wound care at home is crucial for optimal healing. We provide detailed instructions for wound care, including proper cleaning techniques, dressing changes, and signs to monitor. Maintaining good nutrition is essential – we recommend a balanced diet rich in protein and vitamins to support healing. Staying well-hydrated and following activity restrictions as prescribed also plays a vital role. We teach you specific techniques for your wound type and provide written instructions to reference at home. Remember, if you’re ever unsure about any aspect of your home care routine, our specialists are just a phone call away to provide guidance and support.

While every healing journey is unique, there are several key indicators that may suggest your wound needs immediate attention. Watch for increased pain or tenderness around the wound site, excessive or changed color of drainage, foul odor, redness extending beyond the wound edges, or increased swelling of the surrounding tissue. Additionally, if your wound hasn’t shown improvement within the expected timeframe discussed in your treatment plan, this could indicate a need for adjustment in your care approach. Our specialists are trained to address these concerns promptly and will work with your healthcare team to modify your treatment plan as needed.

For optimal healing outcomes, the frequency of your wound care visits will be tailored to your specific needs. Initially, we typically recommend weekly assessments to closely monitor healing progress and adjust treatment plans as needed. During each visit, our specialists thoroughly evaluate your wound, document any changes, and update your care plan accordingly. As your wound shows consistent improvement, we may adjust the frequency of visits. However, if you notice any changes in your wound such as increased drainage, redness, or discomfort between scheduled visits, we encourage you to contact us immediately for an assessment.
